Creative Writing Example

Ques. Department of Humanities is organising a Creative Writing Competition on the topic "A Page From My Diary In Lock-Down"

Creative Writing Sample

“A Page From My Diary In Lock-down”

"My Lord", says the lawyer

Fed up with the human,

Something is to be done.

A proposal got passed in the HEAVEN,

And the judge was asked for a statement to be given.

The judge said, "We will teach the mankind a lesson,

Since the man has turned into a demon.

Make it sure, they turn into Goody Two Shoes,

So that none is left with any accuse."

The lawyer replied, "I will ensure,

That the world becomes adorable and pure".

Knock knock!

A message was to be delivered to all of us and there came a sudden ring on our phones declaring an important notice. I remember it said:

“No more classes till the next notice”

And a lockdown was imposed. I was elated to hear this as I will not have to go to the college for the next few days.

Unknown and unaware about anything, since it was totally a novel experience, not only for me but all of us, to remain at home. We never knew that the world was hit by an atrocious pandemic which is not going to end for months, now.

But being a fun loving girl who loves to explore things, I was very happy as it turned into an opportunity for me.

A week passed by and the girl who used to remain engaged every time, now began to feel that it was really very hard to live without having a thing or two which was to be done in the entire day. I started missing the days of my life with my friends, the moments at which we used to laugh a lot, the pranks which we sometimes did, the tea we used to have just after the lunch and the 30 minutes of our talk which we used to have at the bus stop.

A single week had brought so much of change in me. But thanks to the online lectures which engaged me again.

Days passed by, not very smoothly and the lockdown was now given different names like Lockdown 2.0, Lockdown 4.0 and now Unlock 1. These names were just like, when you get a new version in your mobile phone after every update. And the hosts of news channels, now started the commentary about cases in various states and parts of the country and the world like the one which is done during India Vs Pakistan match with people sticking themselves to their seats and opening their eyes broad while they watched the television, pondering what is going to happen next and bragging that India would definitely win the match.

Then came a day, and I felt it was just like a festival and a celebration of light which I would like to describe in this way:

Urges... urges made can't be ignored,

Sitting in the houses, ideally and bored,

There comes a powerful message,

"Long live the world in the present age,

The Power of 9 min will surely turn,

Every bad into good in a short run,

because

After every dark Night, there comes a mesmerizing Morn

Just by a ray of light in the time of Dawn"

This was the day when we were all told to lighten up the earthen lamps or the torches of our mobile phones by our Prime Minister. I remember my father who is fond of singing, chose a song, sang and recorded it to be played at night when we were going to switch off all the lights.

The pandemic never came to an end till now. And I started doing things which would enhance me more and more.

But it did teach me a lot of things. Starting with something I am obliged to say:

You will live in the heart of country always

You will live in the heart of country always

You are no less than soldiers at the border

Who dedicated themselves for the sick, without any official order

We can only give you resources,

But you are the ones who fight the tough courses.

We are sitting safely at the backend,

Because of you, fighting like warriors at the frontend.

To all the doctors, nurses, police, security guards we vow that

“You are at work for us

So we shall stay at home for you.”

You will live in the heart of country always

You will live in the heart of country always

This lockdown has taught me how to live a simple life, how to overcome difficult times, how to have a meaningful use of technology, how to remain socially connected while you have a challenge to maintain social distancing and most inevitably how to be more hygienic.

And lastly how can I forget this humorous part that how we celebrated my friends' birthdays virtually saying them to party hard at home during lockdown and they are commenting on our #PartyHard with emoji of face with tears of joy.
